Foxes are a popular subject when it comes to wildlife photography. But luck never seems to fall my way when it comes to photographing them. I have spent a lot of time roaming fox habitat, but the amount of times i have actually seen one can be counted on my hands. Despite this, i got lucky enough this month to encounter an adult fox in the early morning.
As i saw the fox sneaking through the woods, i saw it going into the direction of a large field. As i was racing through the woods to reach this field, i managed to get myself ahead of the fox and into a position where i could ly down and wait for the fox to appear out of the woods.

As the fox started to appear through the trees, it stood still for a little while to observe me lying on the other edge of the field. Which resulted in the photo you can see above. It looks as if the fox is determening whether to come closer or turn the other way. Eventually it decided that it was safe enough to come closer. And once it started walking, it didn’t stop. It just came closer and closer.. Until it stood right next to me, at about a meter from where i was lying down. Giving me the perfect uportunity to shoot some close-up shots. This all resulted in the photo of the month for april 2024
